the country, they deserve better environment for growth and development. The major
problems faced by adolescences in Nepal

Empower Women

Nepal has been predominantly patriarchal society where women are considered subordinate to men. There is strong preference for son resulting in discrimination against daughters. Daughters are deprived of many privileges including rights, education, parental property, social status and cultural rites. They are thought to be other’s property and liabilities.

Youth

The National Youth Policy of Nepal defines 16 to 40 years old as youth; approximately
40.68 % of total population of country falls in this group. Every year, over 550,000 youths enter
into labor market, out of which 91% go abroad- Malaysia and Gulf. Remittance contributes more
than 30% of national GDP. Education, Health and Employment are the main issues of youths in
Nepal.

Children

Almost 40 percent of Nepal’s population is under the age of 18 years. It is important
to invest in children (including adolescence) to shape up national development. In 2017, Nepal
moved to federal system having 3 tiers of government namely Federal, Provincial and local
levels. As the provincial and local levels governments are new establishments there is need to
establish government functions related to children at the two levels of governments.

LGBTQ and Poor

LGBTIQ are discriminated in labor market, school, hospitals, mistreated and dishonored by their
own families. Discriminatory laws criminalize private, consensual same sex relationship
in many countries. Homosexuality is legal in Nepal since 2007. Census taken every 10
years includes count of sexual minorities. An estimate indicates that there are about
900000 sexual minorities. However, in private sphere their sexual orientation, gender
identity and expression, sex characteristics are often shunned and repudiated.

People with disability

Government of Nepal defines disability as a condition where a person
feels difficulty to perform day to day activities and participate fully in his/her social life due to
problem in body, organs and system including physical, socio-cultural and communication
